Tale of Two Viruses: Part 26

Let’s give a shout-out to the former campaign advisor and great populist Steve Bannon, who was arrested for scamming “the people.” What did he and a few cronies do? They conned gullible MAGA enthusiasts in to giving them money to build a piece of the border wall. But a funny thing happened. Like their “Art of the Scam” mentor, who took money from his “charity” to have a $10,000 portrait painted, Bannon decided to take a cool million for himself. Operating according to the famous P.T. Barnum’s line that “a sucker is born every minute,” Bannon played the MAGA devotees. I wonder if any of these “suckers” are even angry at being taken; after all, The Don says  he barely knew Bannon despite the fact that he was campaign director for 8 months and then served as one of his most important advisors in the nascency of his presidency.

Devotion can be a beautiful thing; it can also be dangerous. The Don, who has been deified by his MAGA people, can sell them anything-his words are like faux holy water sold by the devil. And speaking of the devil, along comes the conspiracy theory group QAnon, which has parlayed these devotees gullibility into a foaming at the mouth adherence to the whackiest of conspiracy theories.

According to QAnon adherents, there is a coming conflagration between President Trump and a cabal of Satan-worshiping pedophile Democrats who seek to dominate America and the world. The core tenet is that Mr. Trump, backed by the military, ran for office to save Americans from child-abusing devil-worshipers in the government and media. Backing the president’s enemies, the theory also claims, that prominent Democrats extract hormones from children’s blood. Only The Don can save them from this apocalyptic outcome as evidenced by this statement:

“I’m the only thing standing between the American dream and total anarchy, madness and chaos. And that’s what it is. I’m representing you. I’m just here. And I’m not sure it’s an enviable position, but that’s what it is. That’s what it is.”

The savior tells us once again it is “what it is.”

So why expend any effort creating a plan to save lives from a deadly pandemic when you can “secretly save the world” from a “Satanic cult of pedophiles and cannibals”?

I mean, given the chance to do the former or the latter, how crazy would you have to be to not choose the latter?

When asked by a reporter about being a savior, the man, whose response to the death of over 170,00 Americans and the highest number of cases in the world, wondered aloud as to whether that was a “bad thing or a good thing.” He went on to wax poetically, “I don’t know much about the movement, other than I understand they like me very much, which I appreciate.” If a large group of roaches showed up at one of his rallies, he would be extolling their virtues as well. He would probably make the vermin mini-MAGA hats.

The savior continued: “If I can help save the world from problems, I am willing to do it. I’m willing to put myself out there. “And we are, actually. We’re saving the world from a radical Left philosophy that will destroy this country. And when this country is gone, the rest of the world would follow.”

“Saving the world?” Tell that to all the families, friends and colleagues with holes in their heart, who have lost loved ones unnecessarily, because of the gross incompetence and egregious neglect of the savior!

Tell that to the unemployed, the record numbers in lines for food, and the soon to be evicted. Tell that to all the front-line workers, many who are people of color, who are dying at significantly higher rates.

For The Don, that work, is small potatoes. After all, you need to get your priorities straight. The master trickster has pulled off the greatest feat of the devil. Make people believe that the devil is saving the world from the devil. Talk about having the people in the palm of your hand.

To enhance his standing as the bearer of all thinks Godly, the savoir tweeted this falsehood after the Democratic Convention:

“The Democrats took the word GOD out of the Pledge of Allegiance at the Democrat National Convention. At first, I thought they made a mistake, but it wasn’t. It was done on purpose. Remember Evangelical Christians, and ALL, this is where they are coming from-it’s done. Vote Nov 3!”

For someone who knows little about QAnon (and absolutely nothing about “Godliness”),  The Don has retweeted followers at least 201 times, according to an analysis by Media Matters. Some of his children have posted social media messages related to the conspiracy theory. A deputy White House chief of staff, Dan Scavino, has three times in the past year posted ticking-clock memes that are used by QAnon believers to signify the coming showdown between the president and his purported enemies.

The Don congratulated Marjorie Taylor Greene, a booster child of QAnon, on her primary win in Georgia. Given certain victory to Republicans in  this district, congress will now include an outright conspiracy theorist who has said.

“There’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take this global cabal of Satan-worshiping pedophiles out.”

OMFG-TRUMP-Hillary-sex-ring

The Don praised her: “Marjorie is strong on everything and never gives up – a real WINNER!” (To be fair some Republicans reject QAnon butt here are 15 members of the Republican party who are running for office who support the conspiracy theory site.)

Here you have it. Talk about the battle for the soul of America. The struggle between darkness and the light. Be careful America The devil is the great seducer and the devil you know, who claims he is trying to protect you from the devil, is a devil about to steal the your soul and the country’s as well.
